ALPINA DRIVE DAY 2016
This year the ALPINA Drive Day was a special one, having been organised by ALPINA exclusively for BMW ALPINA drivers. More than 80 ALPINA enthusiasts gathered at the new location, namely the Bilster Berg race track which opened in 2013 close to Bad Driburg (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany), which proved to be the perfect choice.
Dry and sunny weather meant track and driving conditions couldn’t get any better on the actual day. For the 30 participants who had registered for the driving training this meant spending serious time getting to know their BMW ALPINA on the track under the expert supervision of experienced instructors. The demanding track, which features technical sections including up to 26 % inclines and declines, was analysed and a lot of focus put into car control, safe handling and cornering speed.
On site long-term tyre partner MICHELIN was on hand with several experts to help with all matters relating to tyres and tyre pressures – the latter being an inherent factor in performance and handling, especially on the track.
Participants who had not booked the driving training enjoyed the company of like-minded enthusiasts, a sizeable collection of interesting BMW ALPINAs of past and present and took the opportunity to test drive some current BMW ALPINA models including the BMW ALPINA D3 Bi-Turbo, the BMW ALPINA D5 Bi-Turbo, the BMW ALPINA XD3 Bi-Turbo and the very exclusive BMW ALPINA B6 Bi-Turbo EDITION 50.
As the crowning conclusion of the day, all participants had the chance to experience highly dynamic passenger rides piloted by expert drivers in the BMW ALPINA B3 GT3, the BMW ALPINA B5 Bi-Turbo EDITION 50 as well as the all new BMW ALPINA B7 Bi-Turbo luxury performance saloon.
The new format and location of the ALPINA Drive Day 2016 was an all-out success and demands for a repetition.
