Impressions of the third ALPINA Drive Day

The third ALPINA Drive Day took place on 10th of September 2018. Following successful outings at Bilster Berg in 2016 and 2017, Hockenheimring was chosen to provide greater driving variety. This year in friendly cooperation together with Gedlich Racing. Around 20 active participants, including from Japan once again, attended this year’s event in their BMW ALPINA and got to enjoy the beautiful weather conditions. Many of the participants have already become Drive Day regulars. Under the direction of experienced instructions, most of whom are from the ALPINA Team themselves, the participants got to experience the limits of what their car can do, and practice their personal driving skills and driving safety lap by lap.

The ALPINA Drive Day was supported again this year by tyre partner MICHELIN, which was on site to assist the participants with competent service around tyres and air pressure. And, of course, there were also ALPINA mechanics on the ground for the complete vehicle health check.

The ALPINA Drive Day is also traditionally an opportunity for test drives: the latest BMW ALPINA models are on site for this purpose and can be put through their paces on the roads around Hockenheim. There was another, very unusual opportunity for adrenaline enthusiasts: Andreas Bovensiepen had brought along the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 and offered his services as taxi driver on the track. Hockenheimring provided an unforgettable setting for this one-of-a-kind experience, since it was here that the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 won the Drivers’ Championship in the hard-fought ADAC GT MASTERS final in 2011.

The driving training event held exclusively for ALPINA enthusiasts is also expected to take place again in the coming year.
